Get ready to fly

Recommendations for travel during high season

  • Avoid traveling if you have any symptoms such as fever, nausea, headache, body aches or difficulty breathing; if you suspect you are sick with COVID-19, you have taken a test and you still do not have the results, or if you have a positive test result.
  • Remember that it is mandatory to wear a surgical mask during the entire trip. Therefore, we advise you to bring at least two for an eventual change. For people over 65 years of age, we recommend the N95 mask. Keep reading the protocols.
  • Check the requirements for your destination. Check the official websites of the destination you are visiting shortly before your trip to find out what requirements and proof you need. If your trip includes connections, check all destinations on your route.
  • Check the COVID-19 tests for your destination, you may be required to submit a negative COVID-19 test result and its printed interpretation. Please note that some destinations also distinguish between a rapid test and all the different NAAT tests, such as a PCR test and a LAMP test, and that all destinations require it at different times prior to the flight.
  • Make sure you have the required documents and mobile apps ready for your trip.
  • Check in online from the Avianca App or website and save the boarding pass on your mobile device or print it at home.
  • If you have a connection with Renfe be sure to check in on their website as well, so you don't miss your connection when you arrive at your destination.
  • If your flight is an international flight to or from Colombia, fill out the Check Mig form on the Migración Colombia website for both outbound and inbound flights.
  • Learn more new airport and in-flight recommendations in our COVID-19 Information Center.

When to arrive at the airport

  • Arrive at the airport earlier, as new security protocols have extended processing times. If you need special assistance or additional processes other than checking your luggage, our recommendation is to arrive two hours earlier for domestic flights, and three hours earlier for international flights. If you are traveling from Managua you should arrive at least four hours earlier.
  • Avoid arriving at the airport with companions who are not traveling.
  • Check in advance the access gates enabled to enter the airport and the location of the Avianca modules to expedite your entry.
